Favorite cinnamon roll characters? . *screams* LUC Favorite cinnamon roll characters?
.
*screams* LUCA! I love Luca from the Shard of Elan series SO much! In fact, I almost certainly have asked this question before and given this answer before. I just don’t care, because I love him. Also because I was wracking my brain for a caption and could NOT come up with one. 😅
.
Also...do you like cinnamon rolls? I do, but only if they do NOT have either nuts or cream cheese frosting. I do not like cream cheese.

#MedievalFeb - Battle. It’s an epic fantasy. And look at those covers. Clearly, battles.
#thewolfqueenchallenge - leadership. Lots of questions about good and bad leaderships and examples of both in this series.
#readitloveitfeb21 - BFFs - Luca and Shianan. Even if Shianan wants to keep being a lonely loner.

“My name isn’t Princess, you know.”
“And mine isn’t monster.” He shoved his food into his mouth a touch aggressively, and his teeth scraped against the tines as he withdrew the fork.
“I’m sorry.” Raelyn centered her plate in front of her. “For everything I said.”
The dragon prince—/Alexander,/ she forced herself to remember—paused over his food. “I said we were starting over. I shouldn’t have brought that up. But I am still curious about you.”

AMA! I’m struggling with a caption beyond this snippet from A THIEVING CURSE, so...ask me anything! About me, about writing, about CURSE, about my previous books...you know what anything means. I’m working on getting CURSE finalized and ready to format, so I’ll answer questions as I can!

“I was starting to think you wouldn’t come bac “I was starting to think you wouldn’t come back,” Lars admitted.
/You’re my pack,/ Killian nudged his arm, growling. /Of course I came back./
“I hope that was something sweet and endearing.” - The Wolf Prince by @cmbanschbach
.
Let’s talk curses! What’s a book you love with a curse? Bonus points if it’s a transformational curse, like the one in THE WOLF PRINCE that turns poor Killian into a wolf.
.
Curses are an interesting trope and can provide an excellent vehicle for the plot, typically as the characters race against time to break the curse before it’s too late - in Killian’s case, before a sorcerer kills him and uses his cursed blood to destroy all the fairies. 😳 This was a really fun book, full of great brotherly bonding and platonic male/female friendship.
.
I’m also realizing as I type this that A THIEVING CURSE is possibly kind of unusual, in that cursed prince Alex - whose curse has given him dragon features and dragon shifter abilities (sometimes fun...when the curse forces him to shift if he loses control of his emotions, not fun) - doesn’t exactly have a “I must break the curse before X happens!” 🤷‍♀️
.
But back to WOLF PRINCE. If you like fairy tales, want an adventure without romance, love wolves or stories about brothers, definitely check this one out! It is book two in a trilogy, but can stand alone.

Help me pick my next read! Except...I’m not tell Help me pick my next read! Except...I’m not telling you what the books are.
.
Should I read:
-Romance! *swoon*
-EPIC ⚔
-✨Magic✨
-O U T E R S P A C E
-Bros
-Princess 🏰
-Snark 😏
.
The option with the most votes I’ll...maybe read, unless my mood decides for me first. 😆 Alternatively, you can guess what the books actually are! (Two hints… 1. Two of them [Space and Princess] are not in this image. 2. Magic is the only standalone. Princess is in a series of standalones. Snark is a sequel.)

How do you stay motivated? When the road gets hard How do you stay motivated? When the road gets hard & you’re exhausted & fighting self-doubt?
.
Yesterday I finished a final, arduous line edit on A THIEVING CURSE. It was tiring, especially on the heels of an edit that was more draining than expected. I used the couple weeks of cushion in my schedule, making my remaining deadlines REALLY tight instead of leisurely. Add recurrent self-doubt struggles most authors struggle with, some disappointments, & some life stuff, and...I started doubting I should be writing at all.
.
But, I’m still here, & the book is back on schedule. How?
.
First and foremost, community & friends. Breaking down in my best friends’ DMs, commiserating in a writer’s group, bolstering & understanding from my mom & sisters, and readers in my FB group cheering me on as I obsessed over word count. Writing often seems a lonely endeavour, reinforced by stereotypes of authors locked in their room for days on end. Yes, I do spend a lot of time alone in my room with my laptop, but authors can’t succeed in a bubble. And we wouldn’t be very good at writing people & relationships if we completely avoided those things ourselves.
.
Second, a whole lotta prayer, both my own & others’. I’ll be honest, my Christian walk is often more like stumbling around a ship when I don’t have my sea legs, and prayer doesn’t magically make my mental fatigue or my problems go away--but it does help me stay standing. It lets me breathe a relieved, “thanks for giving me strength to get here,” as I drag myself across the finish line.
.
Third, goals & reasons. Remembering why I love this book when I started to hate it, thinking about seeing it on my shelf with its gorgeous (to be revealed) cover, recalling the readers who I’m excited to get this book to, & having deadlines I must meet to make that happen were all nudges to keep going when I wanted to collapse.
.
Fourth, resting when I needed to.
.
Finally, and this is important--chocolate. 😉
.
So how do you stay motivated? Or, tell me about something you’ve accomplished recently that you’re proud of not giving up on.

“The story of the monster prince came back to he “The story of the monster prince came back to her. /The son of a wicked king and evil sorceress queen./ Mottled sunlight glinted off the points of his horns. /His uncle was the hero in that version, after the monster prince attacked./ But the monster prince died in that story—and it wasn’t the story Meredith told.” - A Thieving Curse
.
Let’s talk tropes! What are a/a few tropes you often enjoy?
.
Tropes in A Thieving Curse include Beauty and the Beast (obviously, it’s a reimagining 😆), enemies-to-lovers (which I guess is sort of BATB anyway, but it didn’t even occur to me until a friend pointed it out. I find maybe 50% of enemies-to-lovers questionable/toxic and didn’t think I’d ever write one, but here we are…), found family, sort of royalty in hiding, a little bit of arranged marriage (but a mess and that’s not the focus, haha), a smidge of forbidden/star-crossed romance, and evil uncle (is that a trope? I feel like it is 😆). Plus another trope that is spoilers. 🤐
.
Any of your favorites in that list?
.
ALSO! You can now add CURSE to your Goodreads! Yeah, probably should have done that already, but now it’s up!
